OLD NAIRA NOTES: President Buhari Extends The Use Of N200

President Buhari ordered the CBN to keep the old 200 Naira note in circulation as legal tender until April 10th, 2023.

President Muhammadu Buhari, the executive head of state of Nigeria, directs the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to permit the use of the 200 Naira note until April 10, 2023, while urging Nigerians to surrender all old N1000 and N500 notes to banks.

The president of Nigeria instructed the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to continue issuing the old N200 note until April 10th, when it will cease to be valid cash, in a statement to Nigerians today.

This suggests that only old 200 Naira bills should be used nationwide, with N1000 and N500 bills being returned to banks by the CBN.
