A fire has ravaged the motorcycle section of Sokoto Central Market.
According to an eyewitness, the fire broke out early Monday morning, though the cause remains uncertain. However, another source suggested that it originated from a nearby dump site close to the motorcycle section.
In response to the incident, Shehu Muhammad, the chairman of the Motorcycles Marketers Association, stated that they were unable to estimate the number of motorcycles destroyed due to the ongoing blaze. He noted that many individuals lost their shops and motorcycles as they were unable to intervene swiftly when the fire began around 6 am.
“However, both federal and state fire services are currently engaged in battling the inferno,” he added, acknowledging that it might take some time before it is fully extinguished.
Muhammad appealed to the state government to provide assistance to those who suffered losses during the fire outbreak.
