BREAKING: Police Prevent robbery attack, kill hoodlum in Anambra

The Police Special Crack Squad successfully thwarted a robbery attempt in Ihiala, Anambra State, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the retrieval of weapons and vehicles.

The incident transpired on the night of January 12th, 2024, during a patrol in Ubiahuikwem by the Crack Squad, which had been deployed several weeks earlier by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police in preparation for Christmas.

The vigilance of the squad proved fruitful when they encountered two armed individuals on motorcycles attempting to seize a middle-aged man’s car.

As relayed by Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement on Monday, January 15, “Upon spotting the Squad, the armed assailants, operating on two motorcycles, opened fire on the police.


The operatives skillfully engaged them to prevent harm to the intended victim, who quickly fled the scene.”

Ikenga further reported, “One Automatic Pump Action Gun and two motorcycles were confiscated from the criminals.”

The Commissioner of Police expressed satisfaction with the squad’s commendable efforts and urged them to persist in eradicating criminal elements from Ihiala and neighboring communities such as Isseke, Lilu, Orsumoghu, and Azia.

He assured continuous logistical support to ensure the squad fulfills its mandate.
