Youtube NG: Mohbad Becomes The Most Streamed Artist Of The Week On Youtube Nigeria

After the passing away of Nigerian street-hop artiste, Mohbad on 12 September, 2023 at age of 27. His songs has ever since been ranking on all streaming platforms.

Mohbad is the most streamed artist on YouTube Nigeria in the monitoring week of September 29 – October 5, according to TurnTable Charts, which is the only aggregate chart system in Nigeria that aggregates data across TV, Radio, and streaming platforms. This week’s tracking week had 2.3 million total views.

Since his death, people have been returning to the music of the Street Hop superstar, whose combination of Juju, Hip Hop, Afrobeats, and Gospel music brought tremendous enthusiasm to the music business and helped to portray the reality of inner-city residents.

His EPs “Blessed” and “Light,” which saw tremendous streaming numbers with his single “Ask About Me” peaking at No. 1 on TurnTable Top 100, helped him recently log a record-breaking six songs there.

A candlelight march honoring Mohbad was held in different areas of Nigeria. Many artists, including Davido, Zlatan, Chike, Skales, and Falz, attended the procession in Lagos, which was held at the Muri Okunola Park.

After widespread public outcry and claims of foul play following Mohbad’s murder, the Nigerian Police launched an inquiry to determine the details of his death.
Following his passing, Mohbad received numerous tributes from within and outside of Nigeria, including those from American rappers Meek Mill, Lil Durk, and Kodak Black.
